MUSCAT : His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has directed the establishment of an Economic Coordination Council, chaired by His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, with the aim of strengthening alignment between government policies and private sector requirements.
The directive was issued during a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Majesty the Sultan.
According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), the council will work to enhance coordination across economic policies, anticipate global economic trends, support the growth of key economic sectors and expand the role of the private sector in driving economic development.

The council is also tasked with reinforcing government efforts to advance a more diversified and balanced economic model, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The move comes as Oman continues to pursue structural economic reforms, encourage private sector participation and attract investment to support sustainable long-term growth.
