MUSCAT – The recognition highlights the continued development of the airport and its operational readiness, as well as ongoing upgrades to facilities and services to keep pace with growing tourism and air traffic in Dhofar Governorate. It also strengthens the airport’s role as one of Oman’s key aviation gateways.

Oman Airports has implemented several development initiatives in recent years aimed at improving the passenger experience. These include the opening of the new ‘Majan’ lounge earlier this year, which enhanced hospitality services and expanded premium travel options.

The airport has also upgraded its family and children’s entertainment areas, creating a more comfortable environment for travellers and improving the overall waiting experience, particularly during peak tourist seasons in Dhofar.

In addition, Salalah Airport has expanded its commercial offering by attracting Omani brands and small businesses, providing passengers with a wider range of local products that reflect Omani identity and entrepreneurship.

Operational and infrastructure improvements have also been introduced to streamline procedures, improve efficiency and enhance passenger comfort, contributing to higher service standards across the airport.

The achievement comes as Salalah Airport continues preparations for the upcoming Dhofar Khareef season, with ongoing efforts to expand capacity, strengthen operational readiness and accommodate increasing numbers of visitors. The airport is also working to expand its flight network and attract additional international carriers.

Nasser bin Ahmed Al Sharji, Acting CEO of Oman Airports, said the renewed five-star rating reflects the organisation’s commitment to delivering a world-class travel experience based on quality, innovation and passenger satisfaction.

He said the achievement demonstrates the success of ongoing efforts to develop facilities, improve services and enhance operational efficiency in line with the rapid growth of tourism and aviation activity in Oman.

Al Sharji added that the recognition serves as an incentive to continue investing in improving the passenger experience and strengthening airport readiness in support of Oman’s tourism and aviation objectives.

He also said Salalah Airport will continue to prioritise delivering an exceptional travel experience that places passengers at the centre of its operations.

Zakaria bin Yaqoub Al Harasi, Vice President of Salalah Airport, said retaining the five-star rating reflects sustained efforts to improve services and enhance the passenger experience in line with international standards.

He said the achievement is the result of a clear vision focused on continuous improvement, operational efficiency and innovation to meet passenger expectations and strengthen Salalah Airport’s position as a key tourism gateway in Oman.

Al Harasi added that the recognition reflects strong teamwork and coordination among all entities operating at the airport, contributing to a culture of excellence and continuous service improvement.

He noted that the achievement also highlights the capabilities of national talent and strategic partnerships in delivering world-class aviation services and strengthening Salalah Airport’s global standing.

The Skytrax five-star rating is among the highest global classifications in the aviation sector, awarded to airports that meet exceptional standards in service quality, passenger experience, facilities and operational efficiency.
