It also incorporates advanced urban and climate-responsive design solutions suited to the local environment. These include a central green pedestrian corridor linking the schools with surrounding facilities, in addition to landscaped open spaces and natural cooling systems to improve thermal comfort and enhance the urban environment.
Sustainability features are also integrated into the design, including green roofs, solar panels and open learning gardens, contributing to improved energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy within the campus.
From a traffic management perspective, the project ensures full separation between vehicular and pedestrian movement. It also provides dedicated school bus routes and a safe internal circulation network connecting all facilities within the complex.
In a parallel development, the city has also issued a tender for a cultural and social centre in District No. 9, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. The centre is planned as one of the key community and cultural landmarks in Sultan Haitham City.
The facility is located within a planned urban area designed to accommodate around 100,000 residents, positioning it as a major destination for cultural activities, community engagement and year-round events.
The centre will feature interconnected buildings arranged around a central open plaza, enabling smooth movement between facilities. It will have a capacity of approximately 1,200 to 1,500 visitors at peak times.
Sustainability has been integrated into the design through climate-responsive architecture, central cooling systems, smart energy and water management solutions, and the use of locally sourced low-carbon building materials, supporting the city’s commitment to sustainable urban development.
The centre will also operate under a flexible model supporting cultural, educational and community functions, while encouraging public-private partnerships and strengthening its role as a platform for cultural exchange and innovation.
Both projects form part of a wider network of educational, cultural and community developments in Sultan Haitham City, aimed at creating an integrated urban environment that promotes sustainability, innovation and quality of life, reinforcing the city’s position as a leading future urban destination in Oman.
