Oman sets September deadline for replacement of expired banknotes

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has announced that the deadline for exchanging expired banknotes from previous currency issues will be 21 September 2026, after which no claims for replacement will be accepted.

MUSCAT : The bank said the exchange applies to banknotes issued prior to the Sixth Series (2020), which remain valid for replacement through all licensed banks operating in the Sultanate until the end of business hours on the specified date.

In its statement, the Central Bank of Oman urged the public to complete the exchange process before the deadline, noting that no requests for replacement of expired banknotes will be entertained after 21 September 2026.
