Oman Meteorology warns of thunderstorms over Al Hajar Mountains and coastal areas

Oman Meteorology has issued weather alerts, warning of potential cumulonimbus cloud formation over the Al Hajar Mountains, with chances of scattered rainfall, thunderstorms, and active descending winds across several governorates.

MUSCAT – The alerts, effective from 14 June 2026, indicate the possibility of limited-intensity thunderstorms over the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas starting at 1 pm.  

The forecast also indicated active winds beginning from 12 am across several coastal and interior regions, including Al Jazirah, Duqm, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, Sadah, Salim, Al Hallaniyat, Mahout, and Masirah. Wind activity in these areas is expected to range from moderate intensity.

A separate alert highlights the likelihood of downdraft winds over the Al Hajar Mountains and adjacent areas from 1 pm, also of moderate intensity.
