Oman records temperatures nearing 50°C as Fahud tops heat chart

Fahud recorded the highest temperature in Oman over the past 24 hours at 49.1°C, according to data released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), as intense summer heat continues across several parts of the Sultanate.

MUSCAT — The latest meteorological readings from the Civil Aviation Authority showed that Fahud in Al Wusta Governorate registered the country’s highest temperature at 49.1°C during the 24-hour period ending Friday, June 12.

Other locations also recorded extremely high temperatures, with Hamra Al Droua reaching 48.5°C and Um Al Zamayim registering 48.4°C.

The CAA data indicated that Al Mudhaibi recorded 48.0°C, while Dima Wattayeen reached 47.5°C and Ibri recorded 47.4°C.

Among the remaining areas on the list, Muqshin and Nizwa each registered 47.1°C, followed by Al Rustaq at 47.0°C. As Sunainah and Haima both recorded temperatures of 46.9°C.

The readings, collected from the Civil Aviation Authority’s meteorological stations across the country, highlight the continuing impact of peak summer conditions in Oman, with several inland and desert regions experiencing temperatures well above 45°C.
