MUSCAT — The mission said it is seized of the matter and is coordinating efforts with relevant authorities following reports that a fire broke-out aboard a commercial cargo vessel carrying 24 Indian seafarers near the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, the Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI) called for urgent assistance, saying the crew members were in distress and seeking immediate intervention from Indian authorities, including the Indian Navy and the Ministry of External Affairs.
India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has confirmed that all 24 crew members are safe and efforts are on with regional authorities to investigate the cause of the incident.
