MUSCAT – According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citizens can now visit Sri Lanka without paying tourist visa fees after the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka introduced a free tourist visa scheme for Omani nationals, effective from May 25, 2026.
The ministry said Omani travellers can obtain authorisation through Sri Lanka’s Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system before departure.
Under the new arrangement, Omani citizens will be granted permission to enter Sri Lanka for a period of up to 30 days, with the visa allowing two entries from the date of first arrival.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlined the key procedures and conditions for travellers:
- Apply for entry authorisation through Sri Lanka’s Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system before travel.
- Ensure that the passport remains valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Sri Lanka.
- Obtain health insurance covering the entire duration of the stay.
- Travelers may enter Sri Lanka twice under the same authorization during the 30-day validity period.
- If a second entry is made, the remaining balance of the original 30-day stay will apply.
- Visitors wishing to remain in Sri Lanka beyond the authorised period may apply for an extension by paying the applicable fees.
The ministry urged citizens planning to visit Sri Lanka to carefully review the travel requirements and complete all necessary procedures before departure to ensure a smooth journey.
