MUSCAT : The ministry said the law is designed to protect living aquatic resources and ensure their long-term sustainability, calling on stakeholders to adhere to its key provisions as part of national conservation efforts.

Among the regulations highlighted, Article 26 stipulates that licensed operators must retain their fishing or activity permits while carrying out their work. In cases of loss or damage, they are required to notify the competent authorities immediately and obtain a replacement license before resuming activities, subject to payment of the prescribed fee.

Article 32 further requires owners and operators of fishing vessels to comply strictly with designated fishing locations and depths specified in their licenses, as well as the approved types of living aquatic resources and other related conditions.

The ministry stressed that the sustainability of marine resources is a shared responsibility.
