MUSCAT – The authority said it received notification from Pladis Arabia Food Manufacturing Company that the product contains eggs, an allergen that was not declared on the nutritional label. Following the discovery, the company initiated a voluntary recall of the affected product from the market.
According to the Food Safety and Quality Centre, the undeclared ingredient could cause allergic reactions in individuals with egg allergies, particularly children. Consumers with known egg allergies have been advised not to consume the product.
The recalled product is the 35-gram GODIVA Kunafah & Pistachio Milk Chocolate Bar, manufactured in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and bearing barcode number 6281100355441. The affected batches carry expiry dates of 27 January 2003, 27 January 2004, 27 February 2008, 27 February 2009, 27 February 2010, 27 March 2010, 27 March 2011, 27 April 2006 and 27 April 2007.

The Food Safety and Quality Centre stated that measures are underway to ensure the product is removed from markets across Oman and prevented from entering the country through ports and border checkpoints.
