MUSCAT — Oman’s Maritime Security Centre (MSC) has issued an alert after a floating object suspected to be a naval mine was sighted west of the Inshore Traffic Zone in the Strait of Hormuz within Omani territorial waters.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the MSC urged all seafarers, fishermen and vessels operating in the area to exercise the utmost caution while navigating through the strategic waterway.
The centre said the suspected object was detected west of the designated coastal traffic zone and warned maritime users to remain vigilant until further notice.
