CPA seizes over 8,000 packs of illegal cigarettes and tobacco in Oman’s South Al Sharqiyah

The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has seized more than 8,000 packs of prohibited cigarettes and 42 kilogrammes of banned tobacco products during raids on two residential houses in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

MUSCAT : In a statement issued, the authority said the operation led to the confiscation of 6,179 cigarette packs and 2,701 packs of “Al Afdhal” tobacco products, in addition to 42 kilogrammes of tobacco and banned substances found in violation of consumer protection regulations.

The CPA confirmed that all confiscated items have been prepared for destruction, while legal procedures have been initiated against those involved. The competent authorities are continuing investigations and completing the remaining measures in accordance with the Consumer Protection Law, its executive regulations, and related legislation.
