MUSCAT : The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority, joins in celebrating the “Arab Day of Supreme Audit Institutions,” observed annually on 24 May.
The event marks the establishment of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) in 1976.
This day was designated during the fourteenth General Assembly meeting of the ARABOSAI to celebrate audit and oversight work across the Arab states.

On this occasion, Hamood Sulaiman Al Abri, Director of International Cooperation Department, stated that the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions )ARABOSAI( is an organization that brings together supreme audit institutions in Arab countries. It aims to strengthen cooperation, develop audit work, and enhance the quality of financial audit across the region. All supreme audit institutions in the Arab member states of the Arab League are members of the organization.

He added tha the Sultanate of Oman joined the organization in 1980, and the State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority actively participates in the committees and working groups established under the organization. These committees and working groups are the following: the Capacity Development Committee, the Professional Publications Committee, the Working Group on Audit of Sustainable Development Goals and the Working Group on Information Technology Audit.
Al Abri noted that the Authority was also elected to the Executive Council of the organization for the 2017–2022 term and was re-elected for the 2023–2028 term, in recognition of its contributions to the preparation of the organization’s executive plan and work programme. The move also comes in recognition of the Authority’s efforts in hosting and implementing numerous training programmes and specialized workshops in cooperation with the organization.
