MUSCAT : The newly opened stretch forms part of (Phase Two – Part Two) the project and extends from the Maslaq area to Saih Al Matar near the Royal Army of Oman camp, passing through the Sur gate for motorists travelling from Al Kamil and Al Wafi.

The ministry said the opening will help improve traffic flow and enhance road safety in the governorate as work continues on one of the Sultanate’s key strategic infrastructure projects.

The Sultan Turki bin Said Road project is aimed at strengthening connectivity between the wilayats of South Sharqiyah and supporting economic, tourism and development activities in the governorate.

The dual carriageway is being developed to modern technical standards and includes up to three lanes in each direction in some sections, along with overpasses, tunnels, wadis and drainage culverts to accommodate growing traffic demand and improve transport infrastructure efficiency.

According to the ministry, the new section has been equipped with comprehensive traffic safety measures, including iron and concrete barriers, directional and warning signs, and road markings to ensure safer travel for motorists.
