MUSCAT — Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday welcomed the success of the latest round of negotiations between Yemeni parties held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, under the auspices of the United Nations.

In a statement, the ministry praised the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen following the agreement reached by the concerned parties on final lists for the release of more than 1,600 prisoners and detainees linked to the Yemen crisis. The agreement comes within the framework of understandings previously reached in Muscat in December 2025.

Oman also commended Jordan for hosting and supporting the negotiations, describing the efforts of the Hashemite Kingdom as instrumental in facilitating the talks.

The Sultanate further expressed appreciation for the role played by the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as the constructive engagement shown by all parties involved in reaching what it described as an important humanitarian agreement.

The Foreign Ministry said it hopes the deal will contribute to strengthening confidence-building measures and creating conditions conducive to achieving reconciliation and peace in Yemen.
