MUSCAT : Oman Shell is continuing its commitment to youth and workforce development through its support of a 13-month technical training program delivered at Takatuf Petrofac Oman (TPO). The program, which has been active for several months, is designed as a sustained learning journey that builds real technical capability for a number of Omani Youth.

Rather than a short course or standalone initiative, the program is structured to give participants the time and continuity required to develop practical skills, confidence and professional discipline. Through exposure to realistic operational environments, trainees are gradually prepared for the demands of technical roles within the energy sector.
Central to the program is its alignment with internationally recognised National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) standards. Participants progress through structured competency levels, with skills assessed based on real performance rather than theory alone. This approach ensures that learning remains relevant, measurable and closely aligned with industry expectations, supporting long-term employability.

Together, the partnership brings local insight and international best practice into a purpose-built training environment that reflects real industrial operations.
Oman Shell’s support of the program reflects its broader focus on sustainable human capital development. By enabling access to high-quality technical training, the initiative contributes to building a skilled and future-ready workforce. Community inclusion also remains an important aspect of the program, with several trainees drawn from Shell concession areas, reinforcing opportunity creation across local communities.
Commenting on the initiative, Said Al Rawahi, General Manager, Corporate Relations at Oman Shell, said, “Developing real capability takes time, consistency and commitment. This program reflects our belief that long-term, hands-on learning is essential to building confidence, competence and meaningful career pathways for young Omanis.”

We are proud to partner with Oman Shell in supporting a journey that strengthens technical capability.”
As the program continues over the coming months, trainees will move through increasingly advanced technical modules, strengthening their readiness for future roles and contributing to the development of Oman’s national skills base.
