MUSCAT : Muscat Governorate recorded the highest growth in total electricity production, surging by 197.4 percent. It was followed by Al Dakhiliyah at 41.8 percent, Al Wusta at 8 percent, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah at 5.6 percent, and Dhofar at 5.4 percent.
In contrast, electricity production declined by 15.1 percent in North and South Al Sharqiyah, while Musandam recorded a decrease of 2.8 percent.
Net electricity production, which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company, rose by 4.9 percent to 30,866.7 gigawatt-hours by the end of July 2026, up from 29,421.5 gigawatt-hours during the same period last year.

Muscat again posted the strongest growth in net electricity production at 197 percent, followed by Al Dakhiliyah at 42 percent, Dhofar at 8.8 percent, Al Wusta at 8.7 percent, and North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah at 5.5 percent.
Meanwhile, net electricity production fell by 15.3 percent in North and South Al Sharqiyah and by 2.8 percent in Musandam.
Oman’s water production, however, declined during the same period. Total water production fell by 3.2 percent to 287.48 million cubic metres by the end of July 2026, compared with 296.87 million cubic metres a year earlier.
In Muscat, water production decreased by 5.9 percent from 118.16 million cubic metres at the end of July 2025 to 111.24 million cubic metres this year.
Production across other governorates also declined by 3 percent to 130.54 million cubic metres, compared with 134.61 million cubic metres during the corresponding period of 2025.
Dhofar was the exception, recording a 3.6 percent increase in water production to 45.71 million cubic metres between January and July 2026, compared with 44.10 million cubic metres during the same period last year.
