Salalah secures global resilience status, boosting Oman’s sustainable tourism vision

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has congratulated the Governorate of Dhofar after Salalah was officially designated a Global Resilience Center under the MCR2030 program.

Muscat: The recognition highlights Salalah’s growing readiness to adapt to environmental, economic, and infrastructural challenges, positioning it among cities globally that are actively implementing resilience-driven development strategies. According to the Ministry, the designation reflects the broader commitment of the Sultanate of Oman to adopt international best practices in sustainability and risk management.

Officials noted that Salalah’s unique blend of natural beauty and robust infrastructure has played a key role in earning the title. The city continues to evolve as an integrated destination capable of supporting sustainable development while enhancing the overall visitor experience.

The milestone also aligns with Oman’s long-term vision to strengthen sustainable tourism frameworks, particularly through its collaboration with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
