MUSCAT : As part of its commitment to strengthening partnerships with academic institutions, supporting scientific initiatives, and advancing the development of national talents, Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) participated in the International Conference on Creative Engineering and Emerging Technologies, organized by the University of Nizwa from 27 to 29 April 2026. The conference brought together a distinguished group of academics, experts, students, and institutions from various sectors. Held under the theme “Engineering a Greener World”, the event focused on advancing innovation in sustainability, clean energy technologies, emissions reduction, and environmentally driven engineering solutions; highlighting the importance of integrating scientific research with practical applications to address future challenges and achieve related national and global aspirations.

OETC’s participation in the conference and its accompanying exhibition aimed to highlight its vital role in the electricity sector and showcase its efforts in supporting the transition toward sustainable energy, enabling renewable energy projects, and enhancing the efficiency of the national grid through the adoption of advanced technological, digital, and smart solutions. Throughout the conference, the company presented its contributions toward achieving net-zero ambitions and reducing carbon emissions by developing a flexible electricity grid capable of integrating renewable energy sources, supporting interconnection projects, and adopting advanced solutions such as smart grids and energy management systems. OETC also highlighted its role in empowering students through specialized training programs that focus on practical skills and modern technologies, enhancing their readiness for the job market and future career demands, while supporting their active participation in the digital transformation and sustainability journey within the energy sector.

In this context, Dr. Rashid Said Al-Badwawi, General Manager Green Hydrogen Project Support at OETC, emphasized that the company’s participation in such activities and initiatives stems from its strong belief in investing in national talent and strengthening the integration between academic and applied fields. She stated: “Through our participation in this conference, we are keen to highlight OETC’s role in supporting the transition toward clean energy and sustainability, while building strong connections with students, academic institutions, and various stakeholders. OETC is responsible for the transmission network and load dispatch across the national grid, covering all governorates of the Sultanate. The company also manages interconnections with the GCC Interconnection Grid at 220 kV and operates under the Nama Group framework to support Oman’s vision of building a secure, reliable, and sustainable electricity ecosystem.
