MUSCAT – In a statement addressing reports circulating on social media, the CBO clarified that cryptocurrencies are not guaranteed by the bank and carry no legal standing within Oman’s financial system.
The bank stated that this position is in line with the provisions of Banking Law No. 2025/2, which governs financial activities in the country. It further noted that cryptocurrencies remain unregulated and are not recognized as a payment method under the National Payment Systems Law No. 2018/8.
