MUSCAT : Total natural gas production, including local output and imports, increased by 1.3 percent to reach 8.767 billion cubic meters by the end of February 2026, compared to 8.651 billion cubic meters during the same period in 2025.
The growth was largely driven by a rise in non-associated gas production, which climbed by 4.3 percent to 6.941 billion cubic meters, up from 6.657 billion cubic meters recorded a year earlier.
In contrast, associated gas production saw a decline of 8.5 percent, falling to 1.825 billion cubic meters from 1.994 billion cubic meters during the same period last year.

On the consumption side, demand for natural gas showed notable increases across key sectors. Gas consumption in industrial projects rose by 6.2 percent, reaching 4.877 billion cubic meters by the end of February 2026, compared to 4.593 billion cubic meters in 2025.
Power generation plants recorded a sharper rise, with gas consumption surging by 13.2 percent to 2.257 billion cubic meters, up from 1.994 billion cubic meters in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, gas consumption in oil fields, including losses and operational factors, declined significantly by 20.8 percent to 1.6 billion cubic meters, compared to 2.19 billion cubic meters a year earlier.
Similarly, gas usage in industrial areas, including Oman Mining Company and Oman Cement, dropped by 29.9 percent to 31.6 million cubic meters, down from 45.1 million cubic meters recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
