Muscat: According to a report by Reuters, ship tracking data reveals that only one oil products tanker and five dry bulk carriers passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours. This comes even after Iran and the US agreed to a two-week ceasefire aimed at easing tensions in the region.

Despite the diplomatic pause, maritime activity has yet to recover. Data from analytics firms including Kpler, Lloyd’s List Intelligence, and Signal Ocean indicates that vessel movement has slowed dramatically since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran on February 28.

Current sailings are limited to just a handful of vessels per day, far below the pre-conflict average of around 140 ships daily, based on market estimates.
