Muscat: Responding to a question regarding fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, His Excellency Eng. Saeed Bin Hamoud Al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, reaffirmed that Oman will not impose charges on maritime traffic, citing signed international agreements governing shipping.

“Oman’s position regarding the Strait of Hormuz is clear,” he said, noting that the Sultanate has fully adhered to agreements related to international maritime transport.
He added that while Oman has signed these agreements, other countries – including the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States – have not, creating a legal vacuum. The Minister said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is conducting ongoing discussions and expressed hope for improvements in the situation.
