MUSCAT : The tenders have been launched under an investment model designed to enhance execution efficiency, promote environmental sustainability, and improve infrastructure readiness.

The tenders cover multiple sites in the wilayats of Sohar, Saham, Shinas and Al Suwaiq.

Under the proposed model, investors will carry out cleaning works in exchange for using the valley soil, ensuring cost-effective implementation while maintaining environmental protection. The initiative aims to reduce flood risks, safeguard roads and properties, and improve the efficiency of rainwater drainage.

The scope of the tenders includes cleaning wadi beds, removing debris, rehabilitating channels to facilitate water flow, and implementing protection works along wadi banks. Investors are required to carry out the works according to approved technical standards, adjust wadi levels and slopes to ensure smooth water flow, contract independent engineering consultancy firms for supervision with approvals from the governorate, and implement bank protection works to reduce erosion. Environmental requirements must be strictly followed to safeguard surrounding areas during implementation.
