MUSCAT – In an advisory titled ‘How Do Weather Forecasts Contribute to Protecting Lives and Property?’, the authority explained that timely weather information allows competent authorities to take proactive measures, providing sufficient time to prepare for exceptional weather conditions.
Forecasts play a key role in enhancing safety across aviation, maritime activities, and road transport, the authority pointed out.
Officials noted that accurate forecasts help reduce economic and property losses, strengthen community preparedness, and raise individual awareness. The advisory emphasized safe practices during severe weather, including avoiding crossing wadis, staying clear of low-lying areas, and refraining from going to sea when warnings are in effect.
