MUSCAT : Oman’s Ministry of Labour has permitted flexible and remote working arrangements for both public and private sector entities in response to ongoing unstable weather conditions affecting parts of the Sultanate.
In a statement issued on March 23, the ministry said the move comes in light of the impact of the weather situation and the continued flow of wadis across several governorates.
“To ensure the safety of everyone, units of the State’s administrative apparatus and private sector establishments whose nature of work allows it, and who have the necessary capabilities, may shift to remote working,” the ministry said.

However, the ministry has also noted that employees whose roles require physical presence at the workplace will continue to report to duty, as determined by their direct supervisors and depending on prevailing weather conditions.
The decision will take effect on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, and will apply across all governorates of Oman, with the exception of Al Wusta and Dhofar.
