MUSCAT : Oman’s public transport operator Mwasalat has suspended several bus routes as a precautionary measure following weather alerts issued by relevant authorities, the company said in a notice.

The move is aimed at ensuring passenger safety and maintaining reliable transport services amid unstable weather conditions affecting parts of the Sultanate.

According to Mwasalat, the following routes have been temporarily suspended:
• Route 6 (Al Khoud – Sultan Qaboos University – Al Khoud)
• Route 7 (Al Mabelah – Al Khoud – Burj Al Sahwa)
• Route 9 (Al Athaiba – Al Ansab – Misfah Industrial Area)
• Route 10 (Al Mabelah – Seeb Souq – Burj Al Sahwa)

The company said operations of both city and intercity bus services will continue to be assessed in coordination with authorities, depending on weather developments.

“In the event that any directives are issued requiring the suspension of additional routes, passengers will be notified directly through the contact centre,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, ferry services between Shannah and Masirah Island will continue to operate as scheduled.

Mwasalat urged passengers to stay updated through official channels and to prioritise safety, providing its contact centre number (1551) for inquiries.

The announcement comes as Oman faces ongoing unstable weather conditions, with authorities warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential flash flooding in several regions.
