MUSCAT : Due to significant rise in coronavirus cases in the country, the Supreme Committee has decided to reimpose the night movement ban, starting from October 11 for a period of 14-days.

The curfew begins from 8pm daily till 5am until October 24.

Oman has seen a sudden surge in coronavirus cases in the last few weeks. The total infections in the country has now touched 104,129 including more than 1,000 deaths.

Why did Supreme Committee reimpose the ban?

Despite warnings from authorities, people continue to gather on beaches and other public places by ignoring preventive measures and social distancing rules. “This has led to an increase in cases. Sadly some people are ignoring all preventive measures,” said His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health.

The committee also closed all beaches in the country until further notice. The committee also asked authorities to shut “commercial activities that did not comply with the precautionary measures.”
