NEW DELHI: More than 52,000 Indian nationals have returned safely from countries across West Asia and the Gulf between March 1 and March 7, 2026, as authorities continue to monitor the regional situation closely, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

According to the ministry, the government has been coordinating with airlines and diplomatic missions to assist citizens who were stranded during transit or short visits following disruptions to air travel in the region.

Of the total number of passengers who returned, 32,107 travelled on Indian carriers, while additional flights have been planned to facilitate further travel in the coming days.

The MEA said it has established a Special Control Room operating around the clock to respond to queries and provide assistance to affected individuals and their families. Dedicated helplines have also been activated to support Indian nationals abroad.

The ministry urged citizens currently in Gulf countries and other parts of West Asia to follow local authority guidelines and remain in contact with Indian embassies for the latest advisories.

Indian nationals located in countries where commercial flights remain unavailable have been advised to reach out to their nearest embassy or consulate for guidance and assistance.

The government reiterated that the safety and welfare of Indian citizens overseas remains a top priority, and said it would continue to monitor the situation and take necessary steps to facilitate travel and support for those affected.
