MUSCAT – Oman’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on Sunday, during which both sides discussed efforts to contain rising regional tensions and restore calm, the Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

According to ONA, Araghchi expressed Tehran’s appreciation for the Sultanate of Oman’s diplomatic role and its continued efforts to help defuse the current crisis and encourage a return to dialogue and negotiations.

The Iranian minister reiterated his country’s position in support of peace, while stating that what he described as joint Israeli-U.S. attacks against Iran had contributed to escalating tensions and instability in the region. He affirmed Iran’s openness to serious initiatives aimed at halting escalation and restoring stability.

For his part, Al Busaidi reaffirmed Oman’s consistent call for an immediate ceasefire and a return to diplomatic engagement to resolve disputes through dialogue, in a way that safeguards the legitimate interests of all parties.

He also urged restraint and stressed the importance of avoiding actions that could further inflame tensions or undermine good-neighbourly relations, underscoring Oman’s longstanding commitment to peaceful solutions and regional security.
