MUSCAT — Oman’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday expressed deep concern over military operations carried out by Israel and the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning of the risk of a broader conflict in the region.

In a statement issued on February 28, 2026, the ministry said the Sultanate “strongly regrets” the military actions, cautioning that they could lead to dangerous consequences and further destabilise the Middle East.

Oman said the developments threaten to expand the scope of the conflict and undermine regional security, urging all parties to immediately halt military operations.

The ministry stressed that such actions are inconsistent with international law and the principles of resolving disputes through peaceful means. It called on the United Nations Security Council to convene an urgent meeting to address the situation and assume its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.

Muscat also urged the international community to take a clear and firm position in support of international law.

While affirming the right of states to self-defence in accordance with international law, Oman called for restraint, de-escalation and adherence to diplomatic solutions to prevent further bloodshed.

Oman has traditionally positioned itself as a mediator in regional disputes and reiterated its commitment to dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the only sustainable path toward stability.
