NEW DELHI – India on Monday advised its citizens in Iran to leave the country using available commercial transport, citing an evolving security situation and concerns over a possible strike by the United States.
“In view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights,” the Indian Embassy in Tehran said in a post on social media.
The advisory comes amid heightened tensions in the region and growing fears of potential U.S. military action against Tehran.

India’s foreign ministry estimates that around 10,000 Indian nationals are usually present in Iran, including students, professionals and businesspeople.
Officials did not immediately announce evacuation plans but said they were closely monitoring developments.
