The proceedings, conducted by Chief Coordinator Syed Jamil Zaidi, began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a detailed briefing on tournament rules and regulations.
In his welcome address, Chief Organiser Kaleem Akhtar thanked participating teams, sponsors and volunteers for their support, describing the tournament as more than a sporting competition.
“This tournament is about promoting unity, positive engagement and community spirit during the holy month of Ramadan,” he said, urging teams to maintain discipline on and off the field, respect match officials and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and fairness.
Akhtar added that the event would also feature community-focused activities, including quizzes, children’s games and food stalls, aimed at creating a vibrant, family-friendly Ramadan atmosphere.
PSC Finance Secretary Imran Toor congratulated the organising committee and highlighted the benefits of club membership. He announced that memberships can now be obtained online through submission of basic documents and a bank receipt, crediting General Secretary Kashif Ahmed Zaeem and the IT team for implementing the digital registration system.
Technical Committee Head Haider Ali later outlined the tournament structure before conducting the official draw. The 32 teams were divided into four groups – A, B, C and D.
The ceremony concluded with refreshments hosted by Ravi Restaurant.
The tournament will commence on Monday, February 23 at 9:00 PM. The opening fixtures are:
• Match 1 (Group A): Charwa XI vs OCT Ruwi
• Match 2 (Group C): Al Zain vs Bunsub XI
PSC has invited members of the community to attend and support the tournament, which organisers say aims to strengthen sportsmanship, unity and community engagement throughout Ramadan.
