Muscat: Despite the growth in passenger numbers, the total number of incoming and outgoing flights declined by 2.8 per cent, standing at 104,510 flights by the end of December 2025, compared to 107,546 flights in 2024.
At Muscat International Airport, international flight movements dropped by 4.5 per cent to 82,913 flights, compared to 86,797 flights in 2024. However, international passenger numbers rose by 1.3 per cent to 11,838,223 passengers, up from 11,681,790 passengers the previous year.
Domestic operations at Muscat International Airport recorded notable growth. The number of domestic flights increased by 6.6 per cent to 9,606 flights, compared to 9,009 flights in 2024. Passenger numbers on domestic routes surged by 12 per cent, reaching 1,319,336 passengers, up from 1,178,163 passengers.

At Salalah Airport, international flights decreased slightly by 2.4 per cent to 4,886 flights, compared to 5,008 flights in 2024. International passenger traffic remained stable, reaching 678,591 passengers, marginally higher than 678,402 passengers recorded a year earlier.
Domestic travel through Salalah Airport showed significant growth. Domestic flights rose by 14.3 per cent to 6,227 flights, compared to 5,450 flights in 2024. Passenger numbers increased sharply by 17.7 per cent to 1,023,529 passengers, up from 869,954 passengers.
Sohar Airport witnessed a steep decline in international air traffic. International flights fell by 77.8 per cent to 110 flights, compared to 495 flights in 2024. Passenger numbers on international routes dropped dramatically by 99.1 per cent, reaching just 390 passengers, down from 44,897 passengers.
Domestic activity at Sohar Airport also declined, with flights decreasing by 9.1 per cent to 150 flights, compared to 165 flights in 2024. Passenger numbers fell by 21.8 per cent to 18,247 passengers, compared to 23,331 passengers.
At Duqm Airport, domestic flight operations remained largely stable. The airport recorded 618 domestic flights, a slight decrease of 0.6 per cent from 622 flights in 2024. Passenger numbers also saw a marginal dip of 0.4 per cent, reaching 60,893 passengers, compared to 61,137 passengers last year.
