MUSCAT – Oman said on Friday that talks it hosted between Iran and the United States helped clarify the positions and orientations of both sides and identified several areas that could provide a basis for possible progress, Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi said.
Al Busaidi said the discussions were held as part of the sultanate’s ongoing mediation efforts between Iran and the United States, underscoring Oman’s role as a facilitator of dialogue between the two long-time adversaries.
He added that it was expected the talks would resume at an appropriate time, with their outcomes to be presented for consideration and study in both Tehran and Washington.
