MUSCAT – Iran said on Friday that indirect talks between Iranian and United States officials hosted by Oman have ended “for now”, following weeks of escalating tensions between the two longtime adversaries.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi travelled to the Omani capital Muscat for the discussions, Iranian officials said, while advisers to U.S. President Donald Trump — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner — took part on behalf of Washington.
Tehran said the talks were conducted indirectly, with Oman acting as an intermediary, a role it has played repeatedly in past contacts between the two sides. Iranian officials did not provide details on the substance of the discussions or indicate when talks might resume.
