MUSCAT – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Friday that his country approaches diplomacy “with open eyes and a steady memory of the past year,” stressing the need for mutual respect and honoured commitments as Iran prepared for indirect negotiations with the United States in Oman’s capital.
In a post on the social platform X shortly before talks began, Araghchi said Iran was engaging in discussions “in good faith” while standing “firm on our rights,” and that equal standing, mutual respect and mutual interest were essential foundations of a durable agreement.
The comments come as Iranian and U.S. officials resume a fresh round of indirect talks in Muscat aimed at addressing long-running disputes, including over Iran’s nuclear programme, after a period of heightened tensions.
