MUSCAT – A boat carrying French tourists capsized off the coast of Wilayat Muttrah, about 2.5 nautical miles from Sultan Qaboos Port, killing three people and injuring two others, Omani authorities said on Tuesday.
Preliminary information indicates the vessel was carrying a group of 25 French tourists, along with a tour guide and the boat’s captain, when it overturned at sea, according to a statement issued by the Royal Oman Police.

The incident resulted in the deaths of three tourists, while two others sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by ambulance crews from the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority, the statement said.

Emergency response teams were dispatched to the location and carried out rescue operations, safely evacuating the remaining passengers.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident.
