Indian School Darsait celebrates 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour and artistic grandeur

Indian School Darsait celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with great pride and patriotic spirit on 26 January 2026 at the school auditorium, in the presence of the Chief Guest, members of the School Management Committee, students, parents, and staff.

MUSCAT – The celebrations commenced at 7:30 a.m. with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Shalimar Moideen, President, School Management Committee, who was accorded a warm welcome with a potted plant. The solemn rendition of the National Anthem set a dignified tone for the morning, reminding everyone of the constitutional values and democratic spirit of the nation.

The programme began with a welcome address by the Deputy Head Boy, Aaryan Pradeep, who extended greetings to the dignitaries and the gathering. This was followed by the reading of excerpts from the President of India’s message by the Chief Guest, highlighting the significance of the Constitution and the responsibilities of citizens in building a strong and inclusive India.

Cultural performances formed the heart of the celebration. The Primary School Choir presented the patriotic song “Ek Swar, Ek Bharat”, beautifully portraying unity in diversity. The Senior Section students enthralled the audience with “Desh Bhakti Nritya”, a Kathak-based patriotic dance expressing love and devotion to the motherland. This was followed by a soulful patriotic song by the Senior School Choir which evoked pride and deep emotion among the audience.

A highlight of the programme was the dance drama “Samvidhan: Meri Taqat” by the Primary Section students. The performance vividly showcased the strength of the Indian Constitution, emphasizing fundamental rights, social justice, women empowerment, education and equality, leaving a lasting impact on the viewers.

The formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Deputy Head Girl, Nakshatra Rajesh Kumar, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, other dignitaries, parents, students, and staff for making the event meaningful and memorable.

Following the Republic Day programme, the auditorium hosted the inauguration of the 4th edition of the Art Exhibition titled “Brush and Beyond” at 8:40 a.m. The exhibition featured artworks by over 300 students from Classes I to XII, reflecting creativity and artistic excellence.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Saeed bin Hamad Al-Wahaibi, Head of the Design Department, Al Zahra College for Women, in the presence of the President, members of the School Management Committee, the Principal, and other dignitaries. The welcome address was delivered byDeputy HSE Secretary, Gianna Luisa Joy, following which the Chief Guest addressed the gathering, appreciating the talent and expressive depth displayed by the young artists.

Dr. Saeed bin Hamad Al-Wahaibi was felicitated by the school authorities, after which he toured the exhibition, interacting with students and admiring their artwork. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Aparna Rajeev, Deputy Cultural Secretary and an open viewing session for parents and students.

The celebration successfully blended patriotism, constitutional values, cultural expression and artistic creativity, leaving the audience inspired and proud. The 77th Republic Day celebration at Indian School Darsait stood as a vibrant tribute to the spirit of India and the creative potential of its future citizens.
