MUSCAT — Oman’s Ministry of Labour is building a unified national database for the workforce and electronically linking it with government entities to improve planning and forecasting for labour market needs, the minister told the Majlis Al Shura on Wednesday.
Addressing the council, the minister said the integrated platform would serve as a precise tool for workforce planning, help anticipate demand across sectors and ensure better coordination of government efforts in a critical economic area.
The minister said private-sector employment stood at 1,859,206 workers as of October 2025, with Omanisation at 15.5%. The private sector comprises 201,492 micro enterprises and 17,606 small enterprises, underscoring the dominance of small businesses in job creation.
