MUSCAT — Oman’s Ministry of Labour is building a unified national database for the workforce and electronically linking it with government entities to improve planning and forecasting for labour market needs, the minister told the Majlis Al Shura on Wednesday.

Addressing the council, the minister said the integrated platform would serve as a precise tool for workforce planning, help anticipate demand across sectors and ensure better coordination of government efforts in a critical economic area.

The minister said private-sector employment stood at 1,859,206 workers as of October 2025, with Omanisation at 15.5%. The private sector comprises 201,492 micro enterprises and 17,606 small enterprises, underscoring the dominance of small businesses in job creation.

On employment trends, the minister said 73,319 jobseekers were registered as active job applicants by October 2025. Bachelor’s degree holders form the largest segment, accounting for more than 21,000 jobseekers, followed by university graduates and general education diploma holders and below.

Women made up 52.4% of registered jobseekers, compared with 47.6% men. By age group, 27,631 were under 25, 19,940 were aged 25–29, 13,221 were aged 30–34, and 6,727 were aged 35 and above.
