Muscat: The annual observance highlights the collective resolve of Oman and fellow member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council to protect biodiversity, conserve natural resources, and ensure their sustainability for future generations. This year’s slogan underscores the need to strengthen the relationship between people and the environment, positioning wildlife preservation as a core pillar of sustainable development and quality of life.
The Environment Authority said the occasion reflects unified regional efforts to safeguard wildlife and natural habitats while addressing shared environmental challenges, including biodiversity loss, climate change, and pressures arising from human activities.
The Authority noted that Oman continues to prioritize wildlife protection through national programmes and projects focused on conserving endangered species, managing nature reserves, and preserving terrestrial and marine ecosystems. These efforts are supported by stronger partnerships with government bodies, the private sector, and civil society.
