MUSCAT : An Omani court has sentenced the owner of a commercial establishment specialising in home décor and kitchen works in the Muscat Governorate to imprisonment and financial penalties after ruling in favour of 21 consumers, the Consumer Protection Authority said on Wednesday.
According to the authority, the court found that the establishment failed to properly provide contracted services to consumers, resulting in financial losses and damages.
Under the judgment, the owner was sentenced to a total of 21 years in prison, with fines imposed on all defendants amounting to RO 42,000. The court also ordered the establishment to refund RO 25,533 to affected consumers, including compensation for damages incurred.
