MUSCAT – India has formally thanked the Sultanate of Oman, in particular, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, for facilitating the smooth and safe release of an Indian crew member who had been under detention in Yemen.
His Excellency G.V. Srinivas, Indian Ambassador to Omna, conveyed heartfelt gratitude to Oman following the arrival of the released Indian national, Anilkumar Raveendran, in Muscat on December 3. Raveendran, a crew member aboard the vessel MV Eternity C, had been detained in Yemen since July 7, 2025.
In a statement issued on December 4, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that Raveendran is expected to return to India shortly. The Government of India noted that it had been coordinating with multiple parties to ensure his safe release.
The Ministry emphasised its appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman for its role in facilitating the process.
