MUSCAT : Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, presided over the ceremonial launch of the book, “The Al Busaidi State: From Foundation to the Era of Renewed Renaissance.”
The book chronicles the history of the Al Busaidi State, serving as both a definitive historical record and an educational instrument dedicated to instilling the values of national belonging. It elucidates the distinguished historical path that culminated in the establishment of the modern state in the Sultanate of Oman and the ushering in of its renewed renaissance.

In an address, Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education, stated that the launch of the book, “The Al Busaidi State: From Foundation to the Era of Renewed Renaissance”—a publication to which the Ministry devoted meticulous effort—manifests in this honourable form following the proclamation by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on the eleventh of last January, designating the twentieth of November each year as a National Day for the Sultanate of Oman. This day documents the annals of Sultans immortalized by history and constitutes a bridge connecting the present with the past”.

She added that within its pages, the book recounts chapters from Oman’s resplendent history, a narrative inscribed by the great Sultans through the noble deeds and epic triumphs they bestowed across the ages. They stood as paragons of wisdom and profound statesmanship, exemplars of equitable leadership, and imams of dedication and boundless giving. They engaged with the world with an enlightened intellect and penetrating insight, assiduously harmonizing ancestral heritage with contemporary progress. They safeguarded the nation’s unity and sovereignty, devoted themselves to the advancement of the Omani individual and the service of society, fortified the state’s institutions and pillars, and conferred their patronage upon the realms of economy and commercial exchange. They established great ports and mighty naval fleets, fortified the Omani identity, and cultivated cultural and civilizational dialogue among nations and peoples across all corners of the globe, until their chronicles became an enduring paradigm for the values of tolerance, justice, and constructive discourse.

Dr. Madiha affirmed that the Ministry of Education has steadfastly pursued the construction of an integrated educational system concerned with the cultivation of intellect, aimed at preparing a discerning generation that believes in its heritage, with the values of loyalty and belonging ingrained in the hearts of its youth—a generation fully cognizant of its responsibility towards its homeland and its future.
She indicated that the launch of this book represents the culmination of these educational endeavours, which draw the principles of citizenship from Omani history and contribute to forging a robust national identity among students. This initiative is in harmony with the educational philosophy of the Sultanate of Oman and “Oman Vision 2040,” which has established education as a cornerstone for building an Omani individual capable of innovation and global competition.
The minister called upon all educators to exhort and inspire their students to avail themselves of this national publication and to enshrine it as a source of knowledge that deepens their comprehension of their illustrious history. From it, they may imbibe the values of dedication and diligence in learning and work, thus motivating them to pursue lifelong learning to contribute to the development of this cherished nation and the construction of its renewed renaissance. In conclusion, she expressed her profound gratitude to all who contributed to the preparation and review of the book “The Al Busaidi State: From Foundation to the Era of Renewed Renaissance,” in its esteemed final form.

The book endeavours to illuminate the pivotal role of the Al Busaidi State and the contributions of its exceptional rulers over more than two and a half centuries in steering the Sultanate of Oman toward realms of dignity, resilience, and preeminence. It will provide its readers with lucid insights into the journey of this state, thereby enhancing scholarly understanding and reinforcing the values of allegiance to the homeland and fidelity to its revered leader.
The book encompasses the most notable domestic accomplishments and foreign relations of the rulers of the Al Busaidi State, commencing with the founder, Imam Sayyid Ahmed bin Said, through to the auspicious era of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, alongside synopses of their lives and upbringing.
