Muscat: The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) – Oman Overseas Chapter successfully organized its Inauguration and Farewell Program on 14 November at the Crowne Plaza Qurum, marking a significant milestone for Bangladeshi engineers working in the Sultanate. The event brought together professionals from diverse engineering sectors, senior academics from Sultan Qaboos University and the Military Technical College Muscat, CIP engineers, and distinguished members of the Bangladeshi community.
Mr. Asadul Haque, Counsellor (Labour Wing), Embassy of Bangladesh, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included Mr. Sirajul Hoque (CIP), Chairman of Bangladesh Social Club, and Eng. Fuad Abdullah Al-Kindi, Chairman of the Oman Society of Engineers (OSE).
Adding to the importance of the event, the Honorable Chairman of IEB, Engr. Rezaul Islam (Rezu), addressed the gathering through a specially delivered video message from IEB Central Office, Dhaka.

The program featured the formal inauguration of the newly elected Executive Committee of the IEB Oman Chapter. The 16-member committee is led by Chairman Eng. Aminur Islam, Vice Chairman Eng. Sharif Khan, and Honorary Secretary Eng. Jubair Ali, along with three Council Members and ten Executive Members. Outgoing committee members were honored with a warm farewell in recognition of their dedicated service.
The event commenced with a welcome speech from Eng. Md. Jubair Ali, Honorary Secretary, followed by concluding remarks from the newly elected Chairman, Eng. Aminur Islam. Key segments of the evening included:
• An overview of IEB’s history and contributions to advancing Bangladesh’s engineering sector, as well as the establishment and growth of the Oman Overseas Chapter, presented by Vice Chairman Eng. Sharif Khan.
• A presentation highlighting the contributions of Bangladeshi engineers to Oman’s development, showcasing their leadership in construction, infrastructure, industrial, and design projects aligned with Oman Vision 2040, delivered by Council Member Eng. Nurujjaman Hossain.
• Excellent program management and coordination by the Executive Committee of the Oman Chapter ensured the event’s overall success.
Established in 2011, the IEB Oman Overseas Chapter currently comprises around 120 active members and continues to play an important role in enhancing professional excellence, fostering collaboration with local engineering bodies, and contributing to the socio-economic development of Oman.
Attendees praised the chapter’s professionalism, community engagement, and growing influence in strengthening the engineering fraternity in the Sultanate. The IEB Oman Overseas Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to supporting professional development and expanding opportunities for Bangladeshi engineers across Oman.
