MUSCAT – The new ‘Gift to the Nation’ initiative includes two key programmes: developing a simplified and accessible digital curriculum for students with disabilities, and offering training opportunities for both government employees and job seekers with disabilities.
Najla bint Zuhair Al Jamali, President of BP Oman, said, “We continue to invest in the people of the Sultanate of Oman through this new national initiative, which supports the goals of Oman Vision 2040, focusing on empowering people with disabilities. This initiative builds on our social investment programs implemented since 2014, which have benefited more than 250,000 people.”
The first programme will convert existing curricula into interactive digital formats suitable for students with hearing and visual impairments. It aims to provide inclusive educational resources, enabling students to learn outside the classroom using digital tools, while equipping teachers and parents with new methods to support inclusive education.

This initiative extends BP Oman’s previous ‘Gift to the Nation’ programme launched in 2020, which digitised national educational curricula for more than 600,000 students. The new effort will make digital curricula more comprehensive for grades one through four, benefiting an estimated 8,000 additional students.
His Excellency Majid bin Saeed Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs, emphasised that the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s vision of providing equal, high-quality educational opportunities for all and supports Oman Vision 2040’s focus on digital education and an inclusive public sector.
The second programme will provide targeted training for government employees in public-facing roles to improve communication with people with disabilities, while also training individuals with disabilities to prepare for the labour market and raising public awareness about inclusivity. The first phase will be implemented in Al Dhahirah Governorate, eventually expanding to all governorates to benefit over 44,000 people nationwide.
His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, highlighted the initiative as a model of public-private cooperation in social responsibility, aiming to enhance educational, rehabilitation, and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
His Excellency Najib bin Ali Al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, noted that the initiative will foster inclusive workplaces and services, helping integrate people with disabilities into society and providing new opportunities.
The ‘Gift to the Nation’ programme, developed in partnership with national institutions, will be implemented over five years, supporting Oman’s long-term goals of promoting sustainable education and employment for people with disabilities.
