MUSCAT : In a joint statement, the Sultanate of Oman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Djibouti, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of the Gambia, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, Malaysia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation voiced their unequivocal rejection of Israel’s legislative attempts to annex occupied Palestinian territories.

The coalition described the Knesset’s actions as a “flagrant breach” of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which explicitly condemns any Israeli measures aimed at altering the demographic, legal, or geographic character of territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. The statement also referenced the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which reaffirmed the illegality of Israel’s occupation and the invalidity of its settlement activities in the West Bank.

The countries welcomed the ICJ’s recent Advisory Opinion issued on October 22, 2025, which emphasized Israel’s humanitarian obligations toward the population of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Gaza. The Court reaffirmed Israel’s duty to ensure access to essential goods and humanitarian relief through the United Nations and its agencies, notably UNRWA, and underscored the prohibition against the use of starvation as a weapon of war.

The ICJ further reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, rejecting Israel’s claims of sovereignty over East Jerusalem and condemning any attempts to undermine UNRWA’s operations.

The statement concluded with a warning against the continuation of Israel’s unilateral and illegal practices, urging the international community to uphold its moral and legal obligations. The signatories called for decisive global action to compel Israel to halt its escalating violations and to recognize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, described as the only path toward a just and lasting peace in the region.
