Oman bans import of live birds and related products from parts of Iran, the Netherlands, and Italy

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, has issued Ministerial Resolution No. 244/2025, imposing a ban on the import of live birds, their products, derivatives, and offal from several regions abroad.

MUSCAT – The decision prohibits imports from Ardabil Province in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Drenthe Province in the Netherlands, and the Veneto Region in the Italian Republic.


According to the Ministry, the resolution is based on the Veterinary Quarantine Law issued under Royal Decree No. 45/2004 and its executive regulations outlined in Ministerial Resolution No. 107/2008.
The ban will remain in effect until the causes leading to it are resolved and a new decision is issued by the competent authority.


The Ministry clarified that products, derivatives, and waste that have been heat-treated or processed in accordance with the Terrestrial Animal Health Code issued by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) are exempt from the ban.
The resolution will take effect the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
