Oman, U.S. health leaders explore new horizons in medical cooperation

Muscat: The visit, which will continue until October 23, underscores Oman’s commitment to enhancing global partnerships in healthcare and aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. The delegation represents a diverse mix of health centers and academic institutions, with discussions aimed at exploring new pathways for cooperation in healthcare development, education, and innovation.

Talks during the meeting centered on a range of key areas including health workforce development, medical education and training, digital health, research and academic exchange, patient care, and medical innovation. The discussions also covered specialized fields such as pediatrics, oncology, rare diseases, and organ transplantation.

Dr. Al Mandhari reviewed Oman’s international cooperation priorities and the ongoing coordination with global institutions. The Sultanate’s digital health strategy, particularly cross-border telemedicine and remote exchange of medical expertise, was highlighted as a key pillar in advancing healthcare access and efficiency.

The two sides also explored prospects for investment and the establishment of public-private partnerships in the health sector. Discussions included strengthening centers of excellence and specialized care in Oman across cardiology, neurology, rehabilitation, and advanced pediatric medicine.

Delegates also examined Oman’s progress in trauma care, stroke units, and prosthetic services while identifying areas for improvement through global collaboration. Emphasis was placed on operational expertise exchange and potential strategies to reduce referrals abroad by leveraging partnerships with American institutions.
