Tropical depression forms in Arabian Sea; no direct impact on Oman

The National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center at the Civil Aviation Authority has issued its first weather bulletin regarding a tropical depression currently forming in the southeastern Arabian Sea.

MUSCAT – According to the weather report issued at 11 am on Monday, October 20, 2025, the system is located at latitude 10.7°N and longitude 66.5°E.


The tropical depression is accompanied by surface wind speeds ranging from 17 to 27 knots (approximately 31 to 50 km/h) around its centre.


Forecasters expect the system to move northwestward over the coming days. Current analyses indicate no direct impact on the Sultanate of Oman. However, there is a chance of advection of high and medium clouds over parts of the country.


Meteorological specialists in the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center are actively observing upcoming updates.
